Care Ministry

The events and milestones of our lives are many and varied – whether illness, surgery, experiencing the loss of a loved one or welcoming a new baby. Douglasville First United Methodist Church is here for you in your time of need.

We believe in the power of prayer. Please send requests to Ivy Smith at IvyS@douglasvilleFUMC.org or 770-942-3146. Be sure to let us know if the request is confidential for the pastors only or can be shared with the church prayer team.

Our Pastors are available for hospital or home visits. Please understand that we most likely won’t know about your need unless you tell us. Hospitals and care facilities do not contact the church due to HIPAA privacy regulations. Please contact Rev. Tamlyn Collins with any pastoral care needs at TamlynC@douglasvilleFUMC.org or 770-871-1081.

Our volunteer Care Team comprised of DFUMC members is committed to caring for our congregation by reaching out in the midst of life’s challenges by providing a card, a visit, a phone call or meeting a special need. Working in collaboration with the Pastoral Staff, this dedicated group is committed to visiting, praying, listening, comforting and encouraging. To request care or to inquire about joining the Care Team, contact Care Team Director, Larry Roebuck, at ldroebuck@att.net or 770-337-2773.

Stephen Ministers are members of our congregation who have received 50+ hours of caregiving training to minister to people experiencing a crisis, facing a challenge, or simply going through a tough time for as long as is needed. A Stephen Minister will meet with you privately and confidentially on a weekly basis to listen, care, encourage, support and remind you of Christ’s presence in your life. If you would like to learn more about having your own Stephen Minister for yourself or someone else inside or outside our congregation, please contact Rev. Tamlyn Collins at TamlynC@douglasvilleFUMC.org or 770-871-1081.
